Apart from the rotary cup speed, paint flow rate is the second factor affecting the fineness of atomized particles. When other parameters remain constant, a lower paint flow rate results in finer atomized particles, but it also leads to increased solvent evaporation in the paint mist.

A high paint flow rate in a spray robot can result in a rippled paint film. Additionally, when the paint flow rate is too high and overloads the rotary cup, the paint film at the edge of the rotary cup thickens to a certain extent, preventing the grooves on the rotary cup from properly distributing the paint. This leads to the formation of layered paint skin, which can cause defects such as bubbles or uneven droplet sizes.

The paint flow rate of each spray gun on a spraying robot is related to the diameter and rotational speed of the high-speed rotating cup, as well as the density of the paint; its upper limit is determined by the fineness of atomization and the effectiveness of electrostatic coating. Practical experience shows that paint should be fed at a constant rate; fluctuations within a narrow range will not affect the quality of the coating film.

During the actual spraying process, each rotating cup on a spray robot covers a different area, and their paint flow rates also vary. Additionally, due to changes in the shape of the workpiece, the paint flow rate of the rotating cups must also adjust accordingly. Take the spraying of automobile bodies as an example: when spraying large areas such as door panels, the amount of paint dispensed must be high; when spraying door pillars and window pillars, the amount of paint dispensed must be low.
